Constraints in rearing and marketing of Khillar bull in Solapur district of Maharashtra, by using Garrett ranking method

Abstract: The economics of raising and selling Khillar bulls in Maharashtra's Solapur district are assessed in this study. Sixty farmers from the tahsils of Sangola and Mangalwedha were chosen and divided into two groups: draught and breeding bull rearers. The average cost of raising a Khillar bull was 81,480.9, according to the results, with breeding bulls costing more and yielding larger profits. For breeding bulls, the output-input ratio was 3.87, whereas for draught bulls, it was 2.24. Marketing efficiency was significantly higher for breeding bulls (30.9) than for draught bulls (21.43). The study suggests better market access and feed supplies and indicates that Khillar bull rearing is a viable business, particularly in the breeding segment. The majority of farmers, problem faced in the rearing of bull High cost of concentrates, High cost of green fodder, Non availability of fodder through out year and in the marketing of bull problem faced More chances of deceiving by buyer on account of undercover system of sale, Commission charges are not fixed, Inadequate market facilities.
