Abstract: Present review summarizes the potential effects of betaine supplementation in poultry. In last few decades, the poultry sector has adopted intensive system of rearing to achieve cope up with global food and nutrient shortages. Betaine, a timethylglycne, is mainly known as methyl donor. Betaine can be choice of methyl donor over Choline, methionine and folic acid. Betaine is a powerful osmolyte, a potent antioxidant that can be useful in alleviating heat stress conditions in poultry. Betaine is an excellent carcass modifier which increases lean meat production in poultry and improves meat quality by delaying postmortem changes in meat. Thus, Betaine can be potent feed additives for poultry farming.
