Prevalence of anaemia associated with endoparasitic infestation in goats

Abstract: The present study entitled "prevalence of anaemia associated with endoparasitic infestation in goats" was undertaken with an aim to study the prevalence of endo-parasitic anaemia in goats presented at Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC), College of Veterinary Science (C.V.Sc), Rajendranagar, Peripheral hospital, Mylardevpally and private goat farms in and around Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during the period from April 2024 to March 2025. A total of 6732 goats of various age, gender and breed were presented, among 1468 goats were positive for different endoparasitic ova and larvae of certain endoparasites giving a prevalence of endoparasitic infestation in goats as 21.81 percent. Out of these, 882 goats were diagnosed for anaemia with a prevalence rate of 13.10 percent. The age, gender, breed and season wise prevalence of anaemia in goats was highest in the age group of 0-6 months (55.55%), in female goats (73.36%), in Osmanabadi breed goats (60.66%) and during rainy season (46.37%) respectively. The FAMACHA score was observed highest with C (3) grade in (47.73%) goats. Out of 882 goats with anaemia due to endo-parasitic infestation highest number of parasites was noticed Strongyle species (45.47%) and the least was moniezia species (2.72%).
