Incidence of horn affections in cattle and buffaloes

Abstract: Incidence of hornrnaffections was recorded among the cattle and buffaloes presented to the collegernclinic from November, 2023 to October, 2024. Among 294 cattle and 338 buffaloes,rn16 cattle and 72 buffaloes were diagnosed with horn affections with an overallrnincidence of 13.92%. Cancer was frequently recorded affection in cattle andrnfractures in buffaloes. Incidence was more in adult bovines of above 4 years’rnage. Ongole cattle and graded murrah breed buffaloes were more affected. Amongrncattle, cows and bulls were almost equally affected, while; only she buffaloesrnwere reported with horn affections. More fractures were recorded at base andrnlower third in cattle and at mid to lower third of horn in buffaloes.
