Abstract: The present study was conducted to evaluate the Effect of phytase enzyme supplementation at varying dietary energy levels on the carcass traits of Pratapdhan chickens (day-old) were used in a completely randomized design in 5 treatments with 4 replicates, each consisting of 10 chicks. The treatment comprised of T1 Control basal diet (CP 20% and ME 2800 kcal/kg), T2 Control diet (CP 20% and ME 2800 kcal/kg) + supplemented with Phytase @1500 FTU/Kg, T3 (T2 containing CP 20% and 2668 kcal/kg (5% reduction in ME)), T4 (T2 containing CP 20% and ME 2520 kcal/kg (10% reduction in ME)) and T5 (T2 containing CP 20% and ME 2380 kcal/kg (15% reduction in ME)). The effect of supplementation was studied on carcass traits viz., live weight, eviscerated weight, dressed weight, dressing percentage, giblet weight, weight of organs (heart, liver and gizzard) as percent of live weight and economics of Pratapdhan chicks were measured. The carcass traits viz., live weight, dressed weight and eviscerated weight (p<0.05%) were significantly higher in treatment T3 (T2 containing CP 20% and ME 2668 kcal/kg (5% reduction in ME)) and giblet weight (p<0.01%) was significantly higher in group third (T2 containing CP 20% and 2668 kcal/kg (5% reduction in ME) and gizzard weight higher in T1 as compared to rest of the treatment groups. The supplementation of phytase enzyme had no significant effect on heart expressed as percent of live weight, however liver percentage was significantly improved in group third (T2 containing CP 20% and ME 2668 kcal/kg (5% reduction in ME)). Total cost (Rs/Bird) was found significantly highest in T2 followed by T3, T5, T1 and lowest in T4. Gross return (Rs/Bird) was significantly highest in T3 followed by T2, T1 and T5 and lowest in T4. Net return (Rs/Bird) was significantly highest in T3 followed by T2, T1 and T5 lowest in T4. Significantly highest BC ratio (BCR) was found in T3 followed by T2, T1 and lowest in T4 and T5, whereas, the difference between T4 and T5 did not differ significantly. From the results, it may be concluded the feeding of Phytase enzyme is beneficial in improving carcass characteristics and economics of Pratapdhan chicks.
