Abstract: The study was conducted in the West Tripura District by covering a total of 305 cows including 199 Crossbred (C.B.) cows and 106 Non-Descript (N.D) cows. It showed that crossbred cows had better reproductive and productive performance compared to Non-Descript (N.D.) cows. The study showed significant differences (p≤0.01) in calving interval, peak yield and lactational milk yield between the two types of cows with C.B. cows outperforming N.D. cows. The average age at first calving and lactation period also differed significantly (p≤0.05) between the two types of cows. These findings suggest that rearing C.B. cows may be more profitable for farmers in the West Tripura District.
