Abstract: Fractures affect animals across species, prompting substantial advancements in management. However, large ruminant fractures pose unique challenges due to several constraints. Tailored treatment approaches are essential, taking into account factors such as the individual animal, characteristics of the affected bone, expected success rates, financial resources and willingness of the owner and the discretion of the veterinarian. Treatment options including external coaptation, external skeletal fixation and internal skeletal fixation offer diverse approaches to address these fractures. This article delves into the management of large ruminant fractures at the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Mannuthy over a period of one year emphasizing the importance of individualised care strategies in optimizing outcomes for these cases.
