Abstract: This study explores the socio-economic conditions of Sojat goat farmers in the Pali and Jalore districts of Rajasthan, India, during the 2023–2024 Period. Employing a multistage sampling technique, data were gathered from 160 farmers in selected villages through structured interviews. The analysis focused on factors such as age, caste, education, occupation, income, family type, landholding, housing, and flock size. The results show that goat farming is primarily undertaken by middle-aged individuals, mainly from OBC groups and joint family systems. A considerable number of farmers were found to be illiterate and primarily reliant on animal husbandry for their livelihood, with most falling into the medium income category through goat rearing. The study underscores goat farming as a vital source of income for small and marginal farmers, while also pointing out challenges like inadequate education and limited landholdings. These insights offer a crucial perspective on the socio-economic aspects shaping goat farming practices in the region.
