Abstract: Studies A study on the prevalence of dermatophytes in buffaloes was conducted at an organized dairy farm housing 10 cows, 12 Murrah buffaloes, and 6 Murrah calves of various age groups. Some Murrah milch buffaloes and calves exhibited widespread cutaneous lesions. Consequently, all buffaloes and their calves underwent clinical examination, and skin scrapings were collected to identify the causative agents responsible for the skin lesions. In this investigation, adult buffaloes presented with symptoms such as hair loss, grey patches, alopecia, and scaling. The affected animals developed distinct, scaly patches of hair loss across different body regions, primarily around the neck, chest, face, dewlap, lower abdomen, and inter-maxillary area. Laboratory analysis of the skin scrapings from these buffaloes and their calves revealed concurrent fungal infections caused by Microsporum audouinii and mucormycetes.
