Abstract: A twenty-day-old female lamb was presented to the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, with symptoms of a fluid filled pocket on skull, intermittent convulsions, weakness, and nystagmus. Based on the symptoms, physical, and radiographic examination, it was confirmed as a case of congenital external hydrocephalus. Preoperatively, the animal was treated to reduce intracranial pressure. 2% Lignocaine was infiltrated around the swollen portion of the head to achieve local analgesia, and surgical resection of the fluid-filled pocket was carried out. Antibiotics and analgesics were administered for five days, and skin sutures were removed 12 days postoperatively. The animal recovered without any complications.
