Abstract: Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is defined as the narrowing of the pyloric lumen due to smooth muscle hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the pyloric circular layer. This is commonly observed in young, brachycephalic breed male dogs. A five-month-old, male French bulldog was presented with a history of projectile vomiting of undigested food of two-month duration, inappetence, and abdominal distension. The animal was treated with anti-emetics and H2 blockers, with no response. On general examination of the animal, the Body Condition Score was 1.5/5, frail and emaciated. Complete blood count and serum biochemistry revealed mild leucocytosis, regenerative anaemia, and hypoalbuminemia. Radiographic findings included an overtly distended stomach with radio-opaque foci, or "gravel signs”. Barium contrast revealed a narrower pyloric lumen and delayed gastric emptying time, diagnosed as pyloric stenosis. Fredet-Ramstedt pyloromyotomy was performed to relieve the obstruction in the pyloric region. Animal was recovered uneventfully without any complications.
