Abstract: Three pluriparous Gir cows about 8 to 10 years old were presented at Veterinary Clinical Complex, College of Veterinary Science & A. H., Kamdhenu University, Navsari, Gujarat with history of mass hanging from the genital opening and partial in-appetence since past three to four days. On clinical examination, cows were found hypothermic (980F to 99.40F) and exhibited the signs of restlessness and continuous straining. In all the animals, the protruding mass was edematous, swollen and reddish pink in color. Based on physical examination, it was confirmed as cervivo-vaginal prolapse. On rectal examination, the animal was found non pregnant. All the animals were operated under epidural anaesthesia using 2% lignocaine hydrochloride (5-10 ml) to reduce straining and for easy manipulation in standing position. The prolapsed mass was cleaned with application of 1%potassium permanganate in cold water to render prolapsed mass aseptic with reduced size. The mass was lifted with both hands and manual repositioning was done in pelvic cavity with the help of mild pressure by using fist support. Horizontal mattress suture incorporated with soft plastic material was then applied to avoid recurrence. Cows were treated with antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and supportive treatment for next 5 days. The suture was retained for 72 hours and removed thereafter as symptoms of straining seized. The cows were monitored for a week and all recovered satisfactorily with no more issues.
