Abstract: The worldwide dairy industry has reported a gradual decrease in herd fertility, which has become a significant problem for dairy farmers. Alongside this decline, there has been an increasing duration of calving intervals, leading to a notable prolongation of the time from parturition to the next insemination. This trend not only affects the overall reproductive efficiency of dairy herds but also has economic implications due to delayed milk production and reduced productivity of cows. The increase in calving intervals is due to the presence of suboptimal conditions, including poor manage mental practices and inadequate nutritional support, which can adversely impact reproductive health. Additionally, pathological conditions such as chronic debilitating diseases and uterine or ovarian disorders further contribute by impairing the normal reproductive processes. Collectively, these factors underscore the importance of implementing effective management strategies and timely veterinary interventions to address and mitigate the underlying causes of postpartum anoestrus that effects declining fertility and extended calving intervals. The present article has reviewed post-partum anoestrus in dairy cattle, types, diagnosis, and different treatment approaches.
