Abstract: The present experiment was conducted to evaluate concentration of progesterone and cholesterol in the follicular fluid before and after synchronization of estrus in repeat breeding cross bred cows. A total of 10 normal cyclical and 10 repeat breeding cross bred cows with suprabasal preovulatory progesterone concentration were selected for the study. The follicular fluid was aspirated from the preovulatory follicle from all the experimental cows before estrus synchronization. The experimental cows were subjected to estrus synchronization protocol using CIDR and PGF2α protocol. The follicular fluid was aspirated from the preovulatory follicle from all the experimental cows on the next estrous cycle after estrus synchronization. The follicular fluid was subjected to progesterone and cholesterol estimation. The progesterone concentration was significantly higher in the follicular fluid of normal cyclical cows than repeat breeding cows before and after synchronization. The cholesterol concentration was non-significantly higher in the repeat breeding cows than normal cyclical cows. The present study concluded that synchronization of estrus had no effect on the follicular concentration of progesterone and cholesterol in repeat breeding and normal cyclical cows.
