Abstract: This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of dietary malic acid supplementation on carcass characteristics and haemato-biochemical profile of broiler chickens. A total of 192 day-old broiler (Vencobb-430Y) chicks were uniformly distributed into four treatment groups with 48 birds per treatment for a period of 42 days. The dietary treatments were T1 (CON): Basal diet, in groups T2 (MA0.2), T3 (MA0.4) and T4 (MA0.6) Basal diet was supplemented with 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6% malic acid in feed, respectively. The carcass characteristics and haemato-biochemical parameters were studied at the end of the experiment. Results revealed that there was no significant (P>0.05) difference in dressing percentage in broiler chickens. Moreover, no effect (P>0.05) on liver, heart, gizzard, kidney and spleen weights in broiler chickens was observed due to dietary supplementation of malic acid at different doses. Malic acid supplementation at 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6% levels in the diet of broiler chickens had no effect on concentrations of haemoglobin, haematocrit, glucose, total protein, albumin, triglycerides, cholesterol, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase and serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase. In conclusion, dietary malic acid supplementation at the dose rate of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6% in the feed had no effect on carcass characteristics and haemato-biochemical profile of broiler chickens.
