In silico docking studies of quercetin on triple negative breast cancer receptors

Author(s): S Shahana and R Madheswaran
Abstract: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a very aggressive and invasive type of breast cancer with limited treatment options. Phytochemicals are being used as cancer suppressors. Quercetin is a common natural phytochemical with a wide range of biological properties. The flavonoid quercetin is taken from Pub Chem Database and docked into active sites of TNBC receptors retrieved from Protein Data Bank (PDB). In silico molecular docking of quercetin was done against estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), tyrosine protein kinase (erbB-2), ?-catenin, vimentin and epidermal growth factor receptor. The quercetin revealed high dock score for ER, PR, erbB-2 and ?-catenin. Quercetin possesses drug-able pharmacokinetic properties in Swiss ADME predictions and had better safety profile in TOPKAT analysis. Hence, it can be developed as promising anti-cancer drug against TNBC.
