Abstract:
The present radiographic biometry of thorax was conducted on 24 healthy female Mehsana goats. The animals were divided into four age groups (Group-I to Group-IV) ranging from 6 to 24 months, at 6 months±2 weeks interval. Ventrodorsal (VD) thoracic radiographs were obtained, and various biometric parameters were measured. The cardiac height and cardiac width values across the different age groups were ranged from 8.13±0.42 cm to 10.13±0.24 cm and 6.57±0.10 cm to 8.05±0.23?cm, respectively. The thoracic width (TW) values ranged from 11.36±0.12 cm to 14.06±0.32?cm. The cardiac index values were ranged from 0.61±0.02 to 0.70±0.00. The values of right and left costophrenic angles ranged from 28.27±1.40° to 32.18±1.53° and 26.52±0.79° to 30.30±1.88°, respectively. The cardiac height, cardiac width and thoracic width (TW) exhibited significant variation across different age groups, whereas the right and left costophrenic angles did not differ significantly. Positive correlations were observed between cardiac height, cardiac width, thoracic width (TW) and left costophrenic angle with both age and body weight.
