Abstract: Feline Infectious Peritonitis is a common viral infection in cats of any age, caused by feline corona virus, with significant mortality in cats. The effusive form of feline infectious peritonitis is characterized by widespread vasculitis, leading to increased vascular permeability, and subsequent exudation of high protein fluid into various body cavities. Prompt diagnosis of the disease and treatment will help in reducing mortality in cats. A six-month-old domestic shorthaired cat was presented with signs of respiratory distress and in appetence for the past 2 days. On clinical examination, the animal was tachypnoeic and tachycardic. Radiographic examination revealed fluid accumulation in the thoracic cavity, confirming pleural effusion. Thoracocentesis was performed and around 100 ml of yellow watery fluid was removed. The pleural fluid was analysed, in which Rivalta test was positive and Real time Polymerase chain reaction was positive for feline corona virus. The cat was treated with Molnupiravir at a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight orally for 84 days, and had an uneventful recovery. The case will be discussed in detail.
