Abstract: A 9-month-old male Shih Tzu presenting with dysuria and penile protrusion, the dog exhibited signs of lethargy, caudal abdominal discomfort and bladder distension and was diagnosed with the presence of large bladder calculi via radiographic examination. The Dog was pre-medicated with xylazine (1 mg/kg), subsequently followed by both induction and maintenance of anaesthesia using ketamine (5 mg/kg). A Para preputial incision was executed and the cystolith was extracted through a cystotomy. The bladder was sutured by 2-0 catgut in an inversion pattern, while Vicryl No. ‘0’ was utilized for the closure of the peritoneum, subcutaneous tissues and muscle layers in a single-layer in interrupted pattern. The skin was approximated using Nylon sutures. The canine achieved complete recovery 14 days after the surgical intervention.
