Abstract: Spondylosis deformans is a condition that affects the vertebral bones of the spine and is characterized by the presence of bony spurs or “osteophytes” along the edges of the bones. A bony spur may develop in a single spot on the spine or, more commonly, there will be multiple bone spurs in several different locations along the spine. Spondylosis deformans is a chronic condition that is associated with aging and can be classified under degenerative joint diseases.
An eight-year-old intact male chow-chow was presented with chronic lameness, reduced activity, reduced appetite, dyschezia and depression. The animal was unable to breed and showed complete sexual inactivity for six months. Hematological examination revealed evident elevation in serum ALP, rest of the values were in normal reference range. The radiograph revealed diffused idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis at the range of L5-L6-L7. The case was diagnosed as Spondylosis deformans. This case report discusses the therapeutic & palliative management of conditions associated with the same
