Review on tech enabled precision dairy farming- case study from Tamil Nadu, India

Author(s): M Jothilakshmi and D Illayabharathi
Abstract:
The global demand for food is projected to increase by 70% by 2050, necessitating significant improvements in agricultural efficiency, particularly in India, where nearly 800 million people are chronically undernourished. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in dairy farming offers a promising solution to enhance productivity and optimize resource management. By utilizing wearable sensors, farmers can monitor livestock health, behavior, and productivity in real time, facilitating informed decision-making and improving overall farm management. This technological advancement not only boosts productivity but also contributes to food security and sustainable agricultural practices. Collaborative efforts among government and industry stakeholders are crucial for fostering IoT adoption, ultimately driving rural development and socio-economic equality in India's agricultural sector.
