Cutaneous transmissible venereal tumour in dogs: A review of three cases

Abstract: Around 2-3 years old Labrador Retriever, Non-descriptive and St. Bernard intact female dogs were reported with the complain of multiple nodular lesions distributed over the cervical, thoracic, abdominal regions and limbs in the past three weeks. The lesions were subcutaneous, ulcerated and cauliflower like growth or nodular in appearance measuring around 2 to 5 cm in diameter. Cytologic examination revealed large round cells, discrete round to spherical nucleus with chromatin granules and multiple vacuoles in the cytoplasm, with mitotic figures were also observed. Hence it confirmed as transmissible venereal tumour. Inj. Vincristine sulfate was administered weekly @ 0.025 mg/kg, BW, intravenously for four weeks and all the animals had an uneventful recovery.
