Abstract: Equine piroplasmosis is one of the major important vector-borne diseases of horses and other equines in different countries. The etiological factors described for this tick-borne blood protozoan disease include Theileria equi or Babesia caballi. The disease is often accompanied by a wide range of specific and non-specific clinical signs which often necessitates a holistic clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic approach for successful outcome in sick patients. The present paper elaborates clinical observations (jaundice, increased body temperature etc.), diagnostic/laboratory findings (anemia, tick, piroplasm in blood smear etc.) and therapeutic regimen carefully curtailed (use of imidocarb, oxytetracycline, supportive medicines etc.) for complete clinical recovery in a case of piroplasmosis in a 1-year-old mare.
