Effect of peppermint (Mentha piperita L.) leaves extract supplementation on growth performance of Giriraja poultry birds

Abstract: The present investigation entitled “Effect of peppermint (Mentha piperita L.) leaves extract supplementation on growth performance of Giriraja poultry birds” was carried out to assess the effect of peppermint leaves extract on growth performance of Giriraja poultry birds production. One hundred fifty DOC chicks of Giriraja breed were procured from Regional Goverment Hatchery. They were randomly and equally distributed into five treatment groups T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5 with 30 numbers of chicks in each group. Peppermint leaves extract was added through drinking water at different levels, the treatments consisted of one basal diet control (T1), 1% peppermint leaves extract supplementation (T2), 1.5% peppermint leaves extract (T3), 2% peppermint leaves extract (T4), and 2.5% peppermint leaves extract (T5). It was concluded that on the basis of growth supplementation of 2% peppermint leaves extract was through drinking water effective to improve body weights of Giriraja poultry birds.
