Abstract: A free-range grazing seven-month-old female Jersey crossbred calf was presented to the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal with a history of restlessness, inappetence, reduced water intake and recurrent ruminal tympany. Clinical examination revealed extended neck with movable mass at cervical esophageal region on palpation along with ptyalism, free gas bloat and normal vitals. Despite, numerous attempts were made to push the obstructing foreign body into the rumen by passing stomach tube, the bloat reduced temporarily, but recurrence was noticed. Hence, exploratory laparorumenotomy was performed under left paravertebral nerve block and two foreign bodies were retrieved from the rumen and confirmed as trichobezoar on bisection. The uneventful recovery of calf is mainly due to the early diagnosis, prompt surgical intervention and successful post operative management.
