Sertoli cell tumor in a unilateral cryptorchid dog: A case report

Abstract: A ten year old sexually intact male mongrel dog was presented to the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram with complaints of reduced appetite and swelling at right inguinal region for the past two months. The dog also had unilateral cryptorchid testis and left testis was normal. The dog was subjected to physical, cytological and radiographic evaluation. The vital parameters were within the normal range. On palpation the swelling was hard and firm. Abdominal radiography showed a radio-opaque mass at right inguinal region. Under general anesthesia, bilateral orchiectomy was performed. Upon histopathological examination the case was diagnosed as Sertoli cell tumour. The animal showed clinical recovery within 12 post operative days. The details of anesthesia, surgical and post operative management will be discussed.
