Cytological diagnosis of ocular melanoma in a cocker spaniel dog

Abstract: A female Cocker Spaniel eleven-year-old dog was presented to Small Animal Clinic - Out Patient unit - Ophthalmology unit of Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with a three-month history of mass inside the left eye (OS). Ophthalmological examination revealed vision abnormality, glaucoma, cataractous changes and presence of mass inside the anterior chamber of the left eye (OS). Radiographic examination revealed evidence of metastasis. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) revealed round to polygonal and pleomorphic neoplastic cells with brown to black cytoplasmic melanin pigments. The mass was then surgically excised.
