Abstract: Ensuring proper management of dairy animals is crucial throughout the blistering heat of summer in order to maintain their health, production, and overall welfare. Heat stress has a notable effect on dairy animals, including a decrease in milk production, reproductive problems, and a higher vulnerability to illnesses. Successful interventions involve ensuring enough hydration by providing an ample supply of fresh water and electrolytes, making nutritional modifications such as offering high-energy, easily digestible feeds, and increasing the frequency of feeding during cooler periods of the day. Implementing environmental improvements such as shade, ventilation, and cooling equipment like fans and sprinklers can effectively mitigate heat stress. Moreover, it requires attention to engage in meticulous health surveillance with the goal of rapidly detecting and addressing indications of heat stress or associated complications with health. By implementing these techniques, we can reduce the negative impacts of heat stress on dairy animals, thereby ensuring their ongoing productivity and well-being throughout the summer season. Future research should prioritise the development of novel and economical strategies to improve heat stress management in the dairy sector to maintain the effective productivity of the animal.
