Abstract: Bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma (BOSCC) is the most common malignant tumor affecting cattle in India. Field veterinarians have challenges with many disease conditions that impact large ruminants and BOSCC is one among them. The present study was aimed to report the incidence of BOSCC in and around Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu. A total of 3791 cases were brought to large animal surgical outpatient unit of Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, for a period from September 2023 to July 2024. It includes 2059 cattle, out of which 170 cases were found to have ocular pathology and 80 cases were diagnosed as ocular squamous cell carcinoma, accounting for 47.06% and 3.89% of bovine ophthalmology cases and of total outpatient cases respectively. All cases were subjected to thorough physical examination, radiography, ocular ultrasonography and histopathological examination followed by appropriate surgical management. To sum up with, the incidence was found to be higher in Holstein Friesian cross breed female cows above the age of five especially during summer and monsoon.
