Abstract: The present research work was carried to know the distribution and nature of lymphoid tissue in the palatine tonsil of adult dogs. The materials of the study was collected in eight adult dogs which were euthanized in renal failure cases across Bangalore city. The palatine tonsil was located by cutting the head into two half by band saw machine. The palatine tonsil was used to study the gross parameters and samples were collected for histology in different fixatives. Grossly, bilaterally placed palatine tonsils in dog lie within the supporting fascia of the dorsolateral wall of the oropharynx, located between the palatoglossal and palatopharyngeal arches. Histologically, Oral surface of the palatine tonsil of dog was lined by stratified squamous non keratinised type of epithelium. The Follicle Associated Epithetlium (FAE) of palatine tonsil of dog, covered oval, dome shaped follicular regions of the lymphoid nodules and consisted of one or two layers of epithelial cells and the shape of the cells was squamous to cuboidal at places.
