Abstract: Understanding the socio-economic characteristics of buffalo calf owners is essential for developing effective strategies to improve calf management practices and reduce mortality rates. This study aimed to investigate the socio-economic characteristics of buffalo calf owners in Kota district of Rajasthan, India. A survey was conducted among 180 buffalo owners in the district, and data were collected on respondent characteristics, including age, education, family type, family size, caste, land holding, and main occupation. The results showed that the majority of respondents were middle-aged (51.66%), literate (70%), and belonged to nuclear families (62.22%). The majority of respondents were also marginal land holders (50.55%) and depended on both agriculture and dairying for their livelihood (75%).
