Abstract:Citrobacter diversus infection increasingly prevalent in pet birds, including parrots, sun conure and other pet birds pose significant challenges to avian health and the pet farming industry. These infections also present potential public health risks as they can act as opportunistic pathogens in humans. This study focuses on the isolation and identification of Citrobacter diversus in avian hosts. A clinical sample from a Sun Conure (Aratinga solstitialis) was analysed at the Veterinary Microbiology Department. The presence of Citrobacter species was confirmed through culture and biochemical tests. Additionally, the study identified the multi-drug resistance (MDR) profile of the isolated organism. The results provide essential information for understanding the epidemiology and resistance patterns of Citrobacter diversusinfections in pet birds, aiding in the development of targeted management and prevention strategies to protect both avian and human health.
