Multidrug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (Subspecies rhinoscleromatis) isolated from Victoria crowned pigeon

Abstract: A clinical sample from an infected Victoria crowned pigeon showed lameness and poses serious health issues from BirdinEx Avian and Exotic Pet Speciality Hospital Ernakulam was collected and investigated by the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur was used to examine the study. The primary objective of current investigation is to isolation and identification of causative agents from clinical sample. From culture, biochemical analysis and sugar fermentation test all conform the presence of Klebsiella pneumoniae. It was found that a number of antibiotics, including Gentamicin, Norfloxacin, Cefepime and Ceftazidime had resistant forms and were frequently used in clinics, mostly to treat illnesses brought on by Gram – negative bacteria.
