Abstract: A two-year-old full-term pregnant beagle bitch was presented to Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with a history of anorexia and straining with black vaginal discharge for more than 18 hours. Clinical examination revealed pyrexia and enlargement of lymph nodes and mammary glands. Radiographic examination revealed the presence of one clear and others with non-clear fetal skeletons and ultrasonography showed nonviable foetuses with no proper fetal contours. The animal was first treated with fluid and antibiotics to reduce hyperthermia followed by medical induction using oxytocin, and dextrose 25% solution resulted in the delivery of one stillborn foetus along with three mummified foetuses. The animal was treated with antibiotics and supplements post-delivery and had an uneventful recovery.
