Abstract: An experiment was conducted to assess the herbage yield of different varieties of vetch (Vicia sativa) at PFRS Station, Dhunche, Rasuwa, Nepal during a winter season in 2022/23. The vetch varieties used as treatments were: Kutilkosha 1, LAN 1, LAN 2 and LAN 3. The varieties were sown in 4 m2 plot size at three different sowing dates: 15th Sepetmber, 30th September and 15th October. The experiment was laid out in split plot design. The date of sowing was assigned as main plot and varieties as sub plot. All agronomic practices irrigation, weeding was applied as recommended uniformly for each plot. Plant height and number of branches per plant were measured at 60 days after sowing (DAS) and at harvesting time around pod filling stage. At the time of harvesting, green herbage mass from single plant was measured. All the collected data was processed and analyzed using GenStat Discovery 4th Edition (VSNi, 2012) statistical software. The results showed that the varieties LAN1 and LAN 3 produced highest herbage mass when sown middle to late September.
