Abstract: Principal component analysis (PCA) reduces an original group of variables into another smaller group called principal components which basically are the linear combination of original variables. The purpose of this multi factorial analysis is to reduce a set of data that may describe the subject and be used easily. PCA in the studies of animal science has played a pivotal role. PCA has been used not only for assessment of the body shapes but also as permit an understanding of the complex growth process going on in the body dimensions of an animal during growth. Results of PCA has been impactful in the management of animals, their conservation and selection of multiple traits by breeders.
