Abstract: This research focuses on evaluating the sex ratio and condition factor of Schizothorax plagiostomus, a significant fish species in the Kashmir Himalaya valley. The study involved the systematic collection of fish specimens on a monthly basis, spanning a duration of 12 months from September 2021 to September 2022. By analyzing the sex ratio, the research aims to provide insights into the gender distribution of S. plagiostomus, crucial for effective fisheries management. Additionally, the assessment of the condition factor during this period contributes to understanding the species' physiological well-being and reproductive dynamics. This comprehensive study not only contributes to the scientific understanding of the Kashmir Valley's ichthyofauna but also offers practical insights for managing and conserving S. plagiostomus. By bridging ecological and socio-economic considerations, the research aids in making informed decisions for the sustainable coexistence of indigenous fish species in this unique and biodiverse region.
