Abstract: Two dogs, a five year old female Doberman and a 2 year old nulliparous female Beagle were presented with a history of mating prior to 67 and 68 days respectively. In both the cases on vaginal examination revealed greenish discharges with incomplete cervical dilatation with no foetal parts felt in the birth canal. Abdominal radiography and ultrasonography in both the bitches indicated completely developed dead single puppies. Medical treatment with Inj Calcium Sandoz 10%, Inj Oxytocin and fluid therapy were used to effectively manage both the cases to hasten whelping. The present paper reports successful delivery of dead fetus following medical therapy in two cases.
