Abstract: Rickettsial genera contain several species that are pathogenic to man and animals. Members of the genus Rickettsia are transmitted by ticks, lice fleas etc. These organisms are responsible number of important zoonotic diseases in humans such as Q fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever etc. This review discusses the main aspects of rickettsiosis and the prevention and control of the same.
